Aeolus

?olus was the Burlington Route's streamlined 4-6-4 (actually two locomotives--#4000 and #4001.)

1995 - A long time ago in a town far, far away I started the ?olus project by drawing and etching test shells for #4001.

The loco shell is .010" brass with half-etched surface details.

The tender shell is .010" nickel silver.

4 Nov 2009 - Here are the old test etches placed on a Con-Cor Hudson and tender chassis helpfully loaned to me by Hank Fletcher. The shells are exact scale width, and I had to spread #4001's side skirts to fit over the motion bracket. The tender chassis is way too long for the shell, which also sits too far back relative to the trucks due to the size and shape of the tender chassis weight.
